At Brother Andre Hospital in Dandora, the cost of a Mother’s Journey through prenatal visits, ultrasounds, routine delivery, and postnatal care is $200. A bargain compared to what it costs in the US! Yet many women still fail to get the care they need due to their inability to pay.
When women don’t get prenatal care and/or don’t deliver their babies with professional assistance, tragic outcomes are a real possibility. We want to do everything we can to avoid that.
In collaboration with the Brother Andre staff, we created a plan to sponsor women at risk throughout their entire Mother’s Journey. Help us reduce Maternal and Infant Mortality by sponsoring a mother today!
WHAT?
95% of all maternal deaths occur in developing countries
WHY?
Women in Dandora are particularly vulnerable due to the instability of their living environment. It is polluted by the nearby dumpsite, crime-ridden, and dangerous. Most women struggle, working in an unreliable economy to make ends meet for their families. Many women can’t pay the relatively small fee it costs to get care at a clean and professional facility: with no prenatal care or assisted delivery, the risk of mortality is high for both the mother and baby.
HOW?
New Dawn Africa connects resources with need. We deliver opportunities for a safe, compassionate delivery to the poorest, most vulnerable women in the Dandora community.
Sponsorship levels include:
$50 covers the cost of an ultrasound
$100 covers the cost of a normal delivery
$200 covers the cost of a normal delivery and all prenatal visits (including an ultrasound)
$500 covers the cost of a medically necessary C-Section delivery and all prenatal visits (including an ultrasound)
